Today, I am a book.
We are surrounded by coordinates of understanding, informed by culture and language, that we plot in the codex of our minds. We use these references as an internal rhetoric to give structure and form to our experience. We plot coordinates in our codex that inform the way we project ourselves to the exterior world. Further, we ignore those things that lie outside of this system, as if they didn’t exist.
Continuum or Matter explores the way we comprehend society’s structures and rules through expressions in collage, moving image, wordplay, and chronology. It offers an Other rhetoric prompted by the designer’s experience with Autism. By situating the viewer in the space between the codex and its external projections, this project aims to create a space for understanding the minds of others.
